Mission

- We seek to spread the culture of youth tourism, by encouraging travel from Lebanon to the outside world, and vice versa.

- We support the local economy in Lebanon by boosting the country’s total number of tourists and visitors, which creates job opportunities, especially in remote areas

- We function as an umbrella that provides support and coordinating activities for associations that run hostels locally

LYHF Hostels

There are 10 youth hostels in Lebanon in great locations just waiting to welcome you. A comfortable bed, a warm shower, great kitchens are what you need but a laid back, fun environment with a great bunch of like minded travelers. Most of the hostels are located in places which offer a wide range of possibilities for the practice of recreational and outdoors sports activities as well as cultural and environmental activities. There are TV rooms and suitable rooms to hold meetings and workshops.

About Hosteling International

The youth hostel movement was born in Germany since 1909. The idea began with the German schoolteacher Richard Schirmann, who arranged for students of limited means visits to the countryside and cities of the world and to be accommodated in village schools. The idea soon spread across Europe with a series of youth hostel associations being set up in different countries until 1932 the international youth hostel federation was founded.

Its mission is “ to promote the education of all young people of all nations, but especially young people of limited means, by encouraging in them a greater knowledge, love and care of the countryside and appreciation of the cultural values of towns and cities in all parts of the world, and to provide hostels or other accommodation in which there shall be no distinctions of race, nationality, color, religion, sex, class, or political opinions and thereby to develop a better understanding of their fellow men, both at home and abroad ”.
