“Youth in Governance”

I - Workshop Objectives:
The objectives of the workshop are to:
Introduce to participants the basic principles of Citizenship and Participation in Civil Society.
Build the capacity of young people in order to effectively engage with decision-makers on issues that affect them.
Stimulate youth to increase their participation in civil society.
Introduce to participants the communication processes and enhance their knowledge on networking techniques.
Foster interaction and develop team building.

2- Seminar duration and venue:
Five full weekends will be prepared and delivered in each of the five Youth Hostels; the weekend starts Friday at 16:00 and ends Sunday at 16:00.

3 - Participants:
About twenty young people (15–16 years old) will participate in each of the workshops of the five weekends.

4 - Training methods, Techniques and Language
A variety of audiovisual aids will be used by the trainers (e.g. transparencies, PowerPoint presentations, etc.).
All materials will be printed and distributed to participants (Handouts, readings, etc.). A special file will be provided to each participant.
Focus will be made on practical exercises, role play and group work. Also, a participatory approach will be used by the trainers.
A variety of interactive and leisure games will be organised to encourage team building and interest.
Training language used is Arabic.

 

5- Topics to be covered
Citizenship, Duties and Rights, Active Participation, Election’s process, Communication Skills and Team Building.
